THE PAVING OF THE PLACENCIA ROAD:
- The Placencia road paving is now complete between the Airstrip and just north of Maya Beach. Over the next twelve months the road
should be paved right to the Southern Highway.
With the installation of speed bumps and signage the road has become much safer for all, especailly those living in the villages on route.
This ongoing 25 million dollar project is funded by the Caribbean Development Bank
MULTI MILLION DOLLAR TOURISM PROJECT FOR PLACENCIA UNVEILED
The Ministry of Tourism, Belize Tourism Board and Inter-American Development Bank unveiled a multi million dollar sustainable tourism development project. For Placencia, a village centre improvement program, consisting of several components entailing the landscaping of the village and expanding the sidewalk system. The main focus will be on the southern point of the village, creating a visual plaza with walkways, landscaping, water features, and to build a new dock which will double as an entertainment area with shops and restaurants.

installation of a GUS Hybrid Wind & Solar Off-Grid Street Light !
An innovative design that taps into both wind and solar power to light a LED street light. Equipped with a GUS Vertical Axis Wind Turbine on the top of a spun concrete pole and a solar array secured to a frame that can be positioned to take full advantage of the sun's power, the GUS Hybrid Wind & Solar Off-Grid Street Light is an all-in-one design that is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional street lighting systems. Plans are to add more of these units along the entrance road to The Placencia Residences.
